Why the name "Third Day Church"
In beginning of the year 2000 we heard a message on the third day and at that time we were still part of a denomination and the name of the church was Palestina {which means: a land of strangers}. That night the Lord started to minister to me about the name and about names in general. Then, I believe that the Lord dropped this command into my spirit to change the name of the local house to Third Day Church. At first it sounded strange but then I was reminded that we are "peculiar people".
How we got started
In March of 2000 we had an official name change for the local house from Palestina to Third Day Church, while we were still part of the denomination. We assumed that that was all that God was saying but it wasn't and as the pastor of the church I felt that we were operating in obedience to God's will.
In July of 2000 the Lord ministered again and it was a clear word of migration. At the time everything was going well and the church was growing according to our human standards.The scripture that God dropped into my spirit was Ezekiel chapter twelve {Ezk. 12}. That was a clear indication of God's intent for us as a local church.The messages was that we must leave in the Day time while everyone was watching, as if we were going into exile {When people go into exile they don't have much time to gather anything, so we had to leave with nothing.}
So at the beginning of July I announced to the local house that I was resigning from the denomination and the next day I handed in my resignation.My wife Verona and I decided that even if it just the two of us we were going to start a church and we did but some of the people decided that they were leaving with us and so on the 23 July 2000 we opened the doors of Third Day Church.
And now we are seven years old and we never looked back.We can truly say that God has shown Himself faithful in more ways than we can even imagine and we are just vessels for the masters use.
